My favorite Oscar moment: Reese Witherspoon on the red carpet discussing the #askhermore campaign.

I truly love watching award shows. Seeing all of my favorite entertainers together in one place enjoying each other and celebrating the art that they create. I must admit that I also love watching these shows to see what everyone will wear. Fashion in my mind is another art form that should be celebrated so I appreciate that everyone comes to the show all dolled up in custom dresses and tuxes that designers worked tirelessly to make.

But, I do not however appreciate when the (women) entertainers that I love get asked frivolous questions about their outfits. Nor do I appreciate when people pick apart their looks and comment on their bodies. These women are amazingly talented and deserve to  be recognized for the work they do.

That is why my favorite moment from the Oscars last night was when Reese Witherspoon, disclaimer Reese is one of my all-time favorite actresses, was speaking to ABC’s Robin Roberts (also a strong and wildly talented woman) about the #AskHerMore campaign.

“This is a movement to say we’re more than just our dresses,” Witherspoon told Robin Roberts. “There are 44 nominees this year that are women and we are so happy to be here and talk about the work that we’ve done. It’s hard being a woman in Hollywood, or any industry.”

She had posted this on Instagram earlier in the night:

Last night’s Oscars were full of inspirational moments.
