Red Cross Blood Drive

Posted by Ryan Morgan on August 27, 2014 at 10:47 AM

One of the things I love about working for a nonprofit is the opportunity to support our friends and colleagues in making Columbia a healthier place. That's why I'm participating in the American Red Cross blood drive.

The American Red Cross is hosting a Family and Friends blood drive on Sept. 2, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The need for blood is critical night now, especially over Labor Day weekend. By choosing to donate Sept. 2, you can help ensure there is enough blood available for patients who need it in our community.

Participating and supporting our friends and partners makes our work stronger and more sustainable. I always appreciate it when another group participates in our campaigns and events, and here is one chance to show South Carolina's Red Cross how much we appreciate them.

The drive is taking place at 7 locations throughout South Carolina (so you can participate even if you've already got Labor Day plans that are taking you out of town!):

  • - Columbia Donation Center, 2751 Bull St.
  • - Florence Donation Center, 1555-B West Palmetto St.
  • - Myrtle Beach Donation Center, 3681 Renee Drive
  • - Mt. Pleasant Donation Center, 920 Houston Northcutt Blvd.
  • - Sumter Donation Center, 1155 N. Guignard Drive
  • - West Ashley Donation Center, 2000 Sam Rittenberg Blvd.
  • - Carolina Lowcountry Chapter, 2424 City Hall Lane, North Charleston

To schedule an appointment, visit or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). Walk-ins are welcome.

HINT: If you mention my friend, Krystal, you'll get a Red Cross Travel Mug and free haircut coupon courtesy of Sport Clips Haircuts!*

Thank you for supporting the Red Cross and for keeping Columbia, and all of South Carolina, healthy!

*All donors will receive a Red Cross Travel Mug and free haircut coupon courtesy of Sport Clips Haircuts, but if you mention Krystal's name, you'll make her really happy!
