Taken Action
Women comprise 51.3% of South Carolina’s population. And yet in 2008, not one woman was elected to the South Carolina senate. In fact, South Carolina is the only state in the country with an all-male senate—ranking it an abysmal 50th in the nation in women in public office.26
That’s why it is so important that we give voice to issues that matter. We must tell our legislators we support a realistic, responsible approach to sexual healthcare education, and must work to ensure all South Carolinians have access to family planning counseling and services.
We believe there is no more important issue facing our state today.
